At the time this video below was recorded (compliments of a classmate from high school), I didn't realize that it would turn out to be one of the coolest moments of my life. Last summer, for the week of June 6-13, 2011, I went on a missions trip to the Dominican Republic with my high school (a trip students at CVCA have the option to take the summer before senior year, in which they work with Dominican children/families through a ministry called Meeting God in Missions). While there, we had the opportunity to visit three different churches (my favorite being the one shown below). If given the opportunity, I would gladly spend my summer back in Hato Mayor. This just reminded me what a sweet sound it is to hear a group of 130 + people singing at the top of their lungs with the same purpose and mindset - to worship a loving and incredible God, regardless of language barriers/cultural differences.
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy." ~1 Peter 2: 9-10
